Chris Devlin, Matthew Goggin, Michael Brown Lead Qualifier, Round Out 78-Man Field
Chris Devlin and Matthew Goggin matched low rounds of 65 at Valley Ridge Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon, while Michael Brown fired a 66 to claim the final three spots in the field for the 2026 Rogers Charity Classic.
Devlin delivered a bogey-free performance, carding seven birdies to post a 7-under 65.
“Every tournament I’m having to go qualify for because it’s very hard to get on this Tour. Every start is a gift and a bonus,” said Devlin. “I’ve been playing great. I’ve just been on the road trying to earn my status. Being able to shoot a low one out here today is very meaningful.”
Devlin played alongside Brown, who also put together a strong round as the pair pushed each other throughout the qualifier.
“There’s just so many great players out here that are having to qualify and go out and play. Michael, who I played with today, shot 66. We kind of fed off each other all day long. We knew we had to go low, so it’s just all about hope.”
Goggin matched Devlin’s 65 thanks to a round that included two eagles, four birdies and just one bogey.
“I mean, it’s such a crapshoot. You’re just sort of trying to shoot a low round. You just got to play well. You’re not going to scrap it around and qualify,” said Goggin. “I was hitting the ball well. It sort of took me a few holes before I got rolling, and then I wasn’t really making any putts. Then I just got some momentum and played some of the easier holes well.”
Brown secured the third and final qualifying spot with a 66, featuring seven birdies, an eagle and three bogeys.
The trio join 75 other players in the 2026 Rogers Charity Classic field, which features three World Golf Hall of Famers in Bernhard Langer, Retief Goosen and Vijay Singh.
The field also includes nine PGA TOUR major champions, highlighted by No. 2-ranked player on the PGA TOUR Champions’ Charles Schwab Cup Money List, Zach Johnson, as well as David Duval, Tom Lehman, Corey Pavin and Y.E. Yang. Team Rogers athlete Mike Weir is also set to compete.
Three Canadians will tee it up in the field: Weir, Stephen Ames and Calgary’s Wes Martin.
A strong group of past champions returns in pursuit of the tournament’s signature white Stetson cowboy hat, including defending champion Richard Green (2025), Ken Tanigawa (2024), Ken Duke (2023), Jerry Kelly (2022), Scott McCarron (2018, 2017), Carlos Franco (2016) and Jeff Maggert (2015). McCarron returns after announcing he is cancer-free.
